Atlanta Rhytm Section is een Amerikaanse rockband die al actief is vanaf 1970. Dit in wisselende samenstellingen en ook wat stille jaren tussendoor. Vooral eind jaren ’70 en begin jaren ’80 is de band succesvol. In die periode treden ze op met onder meer Heart, Foreigner en Bob Seger.
Jimmy Carter
In 1978 mag de band optreden op het terrein van het Witte Huis. Toenmalig president Jimmy Carter. De president sprak toen de woorden: "Not only are we both from the same part of the country, but I remember when they first started that all the critics and commentators said they didn't have a chance – they said the same thing about me".
